F-14D Super Tomcat

AMK (AvantGarde Model Kits) Ref. 88009

Le box art représente un F-14D du VF-31 Tomcatters avec ses dérives rouges ornées des "Felix the Cat" en phase de catapultage.

Received for Christmas, you can tell by the weight of the box that we're going to have a lot of stuff, and when we open it, we have a plethora of bunches and cardboard boxes.

In all, there will be no fewer than 30 bunches, along with two pieces of fuselage, a small photoetch sheet and two decal sheets, each individually wrapped in a plastic bag.

The plan includes a 24-page full-colour booklet on high-quality glossy paper.

The canopies are packed in a cardboard box to ensure they are properly protected.

The decal sheets appear to be of good quality and are quite thin.

I'm impressed by the quality of the engraving and the way the parts are cut and placed on the clusters.

The missiles are moulded in one piece around the body.

The fuselage (the front section at cockpit level) is moulded in a single piece.

To be true to the boxart, AMK supplied two front landing gear legs so that the F-14D could be represented in the catapult phase or simply in static mode.

The wings can be represented in three positions but will remain fixed.

The different parts of the wings can be represented in different positions (flaps, airbrake, etc).

In conclusion

This kit is impressive in every way and I'm looking forward to putting it together.
