1986 - 1995

1986 is a key year for the association, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary and the creation of a new club logo by André Leroy.

...1986

 10 years back

This is a landmark year for the association, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary with an annual exhibition on this very theme. A new club logo, designed by André Leroy, is being introduced this year and will be used on new stickers to raise money for the club. This year, the club will be taking part in exhibitions in Wavre, Antwerp, Retinne, Jehay, Tirlemont, Chaudfontaine, Jupille, Saint-Trond, Flémalle and Mons.

1987

The club takes part in exhibitions in Richelle, Tihange, Herstal and Chénée. As well as organising its 11th show in September, on the theme of ‘The 60s’, Jemeppe Modelism, with the support of

Amay Modeles Club (AMC) and the CMO, the first IPMS Belgium National Convention is organised in Wallonia, at the IPES in Seraing. This year also sees the creation of a ‘Youth’ section, initially headed by Hubert Baba, and a ‘Mini Wheels’ section dedicated to remote-controlled cars (which unfortunately disappeared in 1988).

1988

In March, the club celebrates its 500th weekly meeting with a grand dinner at Montegnée. Our 12th exhibition, still on our usual premises, will be on the theme of ‘Australia's Bicentenary’ and will be visited by representatives of the Australian Embassy. The club will be co-organising an exhibition on the Korean War at the Casino in Chaudfontaine, and will be taking part in the Centenary celebrations of the Brialmont Forts, also in Chaudfontaine, with, among other things, several 1:5000-scale reconstructions of the Liège forts, thanks to the talents of Annette Gérard and the ‘Doyen’.

In November, a few brave souls crossed the Channel for the club's first participation in an international outdoor exhibition - and not the least - the National Convention IPMS UK in Stoneleigh.

Exhibitions in Ottignies, Huy, Arlon, Chénée, Brussels, Sint Truiden and Jemeppe sur Meuse (Mabotte district) will punctuate this year's busy calendar, which will also see Dominique Jadoul become the club's fifth president.

1989

It's been another busy year, with a visit to the Revell factory in Germany and the organisation of a scale model competition at the 34th Autumn Trade Fair at the Halles des Foires in Coronmeuse, in conjunction with the Reducta shop in Liège. Also in September, our 13th exhibition will focus on ‘The Conquest of the West’ and the ‘200th Anniversary of the French Revolution’. October will see the club, in co-operation with the AMC, organise a second IPMS Belgium National Convention at the IPES in Seraing. Finally, the club took part in outdoor exhibitions in Fexhe-le-Haut-Clocher, Liège (Réducta exhibition), Huy, Grâce-Hollogne, Tirlemont, Arlon, Chénée, Neuville-en-Condroz, Jemeppe (braderie), Brussels (Cité2 exhibition), Brussels (Air Museum), Sint Truiden, Hannut, Charleroi, Olne, and Grâce-Hollogne again (Grâce-Hollogne fort).

1990

The club is co-organising the exhibition ‘Mai 40, c'était il y a 50 ans’ with the CLHAM and RTBF Liège at the CGER Ste Marie agency in Liège. For the first time, our 14th exhibition is held away from our usual premises, in the Cité2 hall in Jemeppe sur Meuse; the themes of this event are ‘The Korean War’ and ‘The 18-Day Campaign’. Bernard Wansart was elected the club's sixth president this year, which also saw the introduction of a new logo designed by Alex Collinet; this logo will also be used on stickers. Club members took part in outdoor exhibitions in Charleroi, Antwerp, Villers-le-Bouillet, Roeselare and Barchon.

1991

Is an important year with the co-organisation, with the Liège shop Reducta, of a huge exhibition at the 36th Autumn Trade Fair at the Halles des Foires in Coronmeuse, with the theme ‘The Scale Model’. Also in September, the club holds its 15th annual exhibition at the Salle Cité 2 in Jemeppe, with the theme ‘Italy, 20 centuries of civilisation’.

1992

Our 16th annual exhibition on the theme of ‘Great Britain’ takes place in September.

The club's logo is presented in the form of pins, and in November, under the aegis of the ‘Dean’, the club's first newsletter is published, which will continue to appear 10 times a year until the end of the century.

1993

The membership fee is increased to 300 Belgian francs. This year sees the creation of a ‘Marine’ section led by Lambert Jottay, a section that will remain active, with its own meetings organised twice a month, until 1999. In April, the club visits the 14th Salon de la Maquette et du Modèle Réduit in Paris. In September, the club takes part in the ‘Histoire de la Province de Liège’ exhibition and co-organises with Reducta a major model-building competition during the 38th Autumn Fair at the Halles des Foires in Coronmeuse. Also in September, the club organises a trip to England to visit the Euro Militaire exhibition in Folkestone and the Imperial War Museum in London. The club also takes part in external exhibitions in Olne, Namur, Tienen, Charleroi, Hollogne, Hannut and Antwerp. Finally, our 17th exhibition, with the theme ‘Les Collections’, takes place in October at the Cité2 hall in Jemeppe.

1994

In February, the club takes part in, and illustrates with numerous models, the RTBF programme L'Ecran Témoin on the subject of the bombing of Germany during the Second World War. A ‘Figurines’ section is set up, led by Annette Gérard, and meets two Fridays a month. A visit to the 15th Salon de la Maquette et du Modèle Réduit in Paris is organised in April, as is a first exchange market at the club premises. In June, a large delegation from the club travels to Cologne in Germany to take part in an exhibition and do a bit of sightseeing. September sees the club take part in the ‘50th Anniversary of the Liberation of Liège’ exhibition at the Caserne Fonck in Liège, followed by a second visit to Folkestone for EuroMilitaire. In October, our 18th exhibition takes place, on the theme of ‘1944-1994, 50 years of History’, and in December, a final excursion enables members to visit the Musée de la Marine and the Musée de l'Armée in Paris.

Also in 1994, the club takes part in exhibitions in Roeselare, Tihange and Hannut, acquires its first computer and publishes two series of postcards to boost the association's treasury.

1995

1995 is a quieter year, with another exchange organised on our premises in April and our 19th exhibition on the theme of ‘Europe from the Atlantic to the Urals’.
